Patagonia has always been a leader in environmental consciousness and sustainable business practice. That leadership has only strengthened over the years, to the point where their realization of the harm that cotton farming inflicts on the environment and their decision to use organic cotton only actually created a new organic cottton industry in California. And now they are matching employee donations to Gulf efforts two to one and actually sending 10 employees at a time, with full pay, to assist in Gulf efforts on the ground.

The Gulf Alert Team was recently invited to the Patagonia Campus in Ventura, California to give a presentation on our experiences in Mississippi and Louisiana. We showed a video of the trip, spoke on our ideas and intentions and answered questions (with one of our Team Skyping in from the Gulf).

All of us on the team are extremely grateful to be able to share out perspective and advice with a company of individuals that truly cares. Imagine what the world would be like if all corporate businesses practiced the same level of care, diligence and attention to sustainability that Patagonia does.

Its all about being a part of the solution as opposed to the problem.
